Reminder: As you’ll be getting your winter energy bills soon, it’s important to remember that the Federal Government is offering $3.5 billion in relief for Australian households and small businesses to help ease the cost-of-living pressures this financial year.

Keep an eye out for this relief and make sure you’re benefiting from it!

What you get:

  • Households: $300 rebate on electricity bills, paid quarterly in 2024/25.
  • Small businesses: $325 rebate, also paid quarterly.

Are you eligible and how to claim this:

  • Households: The good news is ALL Australian households qualify for this rebate. Keep an eye out for this rebate, which should be automatically applied to your bills.
  • Embedded networks: For residents in embedded networks (like apartment blocks), you’re also eligible but you must apply through your state or territory’s website. Contact your energy retailer for more information.
  • Small businesses: To be eligible, you need to meet your state’s definition of an electricity “small customer”. If you’re below your state’s threshold of annual electricity consumption, you won’t have to take any action to receive the rebates automatically. See below for small business thresholds.
State Annual electricity consumption threshold for small customers
NSW 100 MWh
VIC 40 MWh
QLD 100 MWh
SA 160 MWh
TAS 150 MWh
ACT 100 MWh
NT 160 MWh
WA 50 MWh
